Rush – Through the eyes of my ancestor

Imperialism, migration and gentrification; words that are synonymous with the plight of people still feeling the echoed effects of the past to this day.

Created and developed by Chickenshed’s diverse creative team and student groups, Rush will explore the colonisation, movement and betrayal of people on three fronts; through the eyes of three women, whose experiences are linked by their shared ancestry.

Early colonised Africa, the Windrush scandal and modern day gentrification.

Are the mistreatments of certain people coincidental or a systematic repetition from powers that be?

A funny thing happened on the way to the theatre …

Do you remember the song that changed you, the track that takes you back to a place you had forgotten, the album you treasure for reasons only you know?

This new intergenerational theatre project will explore how music moves us, captures memories that tingle the senses and take us to places we had forgotten. The Lost Records is an arts exploration into how we connect our stories to music, using movement, drama, writing and film. What does our music say about who we are and how we have lived life?

The project will culminate in a performance in Summer 2023 with an immersive parallel exhibition of the stories uncovered and the friendships made.
